Bolton Wanders Captain Kevin Davies has announced a celebrity packed line-up for the first KiDs of Bolton Masquerade Ball taking place in the prestigious Premier Suite at the Reebok Stadium on Saturday 5 March.

Britain’s Got Talent sensation Escala will open the star studded event by fusing contemporary sounds with classic instruments followed by Bolton boy and presenter of Saturday night’s ‘Take Me Out’ Paddy McGuinness providing the comedy for the evening. Pop rock band McFly, with fifteen Top Ten hits to their name, will headline the fantastic evening of musical entertainment before Radio One’s DJ Spoony closes the night with some tunes.

Selfridges, Trafford Centre – recently voted the world’s best department store – have also pledged their support for the charity fundraiser of the year by donating gift bags for all dinner guests. There will also be an auction of signed sporting memorabilia.
Kevin Davies said, “We are very excited about the Masquerade Ball and are delighted that such high profile entertainers have offered their services to support KiDs of Bolton.

“Every penny of the funds raised from the evening will go towards helping those under the age of 18 who find themselves affected by difficult circumstances whether they are poverty, disability or social and economic troubles. If KiDs of Bolton can help in some small way to make a child’s life better or easier for them, then we will be achieving our aims.”

KiDs of Bolton was officially launched with a golf day in October 2010 by Kevin and his wife Emma. The aim of the charity is to offer support and activities to youngsters under the age of 18 living in the Bolton area to help develop their skill and capability to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible adults. The charity is particularly interested in helping those who would like to get involved in sport, but may be held back by financial constraints.

Tables of 10 are priced at £1000 and there are a limited amount of VIP tables available at £1250 which will be in prime locations and also include a ticket to the exclusive VIP Casino after-party in the Lion of Vienna Suite.

I can’t believe February’s almost been and gone. It’s supposed to be the most romantic month of the year and it has been at the Castle. We’ve been fortunate enough to host various weddings and the Castle has really been abuzz with wedding guests. I’m an advocate of winter weddings, having got married in the winter, myself. Valentine’s Weekend was great too. We had loads of couples come and dine and stay with us. Just magical!

When we acquired the Castle winter weddings weren’t really that popular, but we’ve certainly noticed a change in that trend and winter weddings are becoming as popular as summer weddings!

I guess the great thing about a venue like Peckforton Castle is that no matter what the weather you’re guaranteed to have a fantastic time with gorgeous photographs taken with a stunning backdrop.

Another plus point about Peckforton Castle is that we can be so flexible with our wedding parties. We can host small and large weddings, from 10 to 160 and 200+ for the evening do. Not to mention how convenient it is.

Our wedding team helps couples to plan every stage, so nothing’s forgotten. A second super convenience is the fact that everything’s under one big roof, so to speak. So there’s no need to worry about ferrying guests to and from the church or registry office, the wedding breakfast, the evening do and the accommodation. What we find is that guests really appreciate having somewhere comfortable to just sit and relax for a while and we’ve got loads of comfy sofas by log fires that are perfect for that.

There are loads of special points to weddings at Peckforton Castle, but just two more I must mention are the option to have a private blessing in the gorgeous Castle Chapel after the civil ceremony and the opportunity to have one of our owls bring the rings to you!

Oh, just a third thing. As we’re an up market venue people can sometimes think that they’d never be able to afford a wedding with us. Well, think again! Not only can we be flexible with the types of packages we offer, we are also very competitively priced, so why not have a chat with us?

Weddings are only going to get better at Peckforton Castle – if that’s possible! The new facilities I mentioned earlier this month will be a great benefit.

In fact this weekend – on Sunday 28 February from 12-4pm – we’re holding a Wedding Fayre, so please pop in and say hello and take a look at what we’ve got to offer.

Hope to see you there.
Until next time!

We’re just about to enter a very romantic month indeed – the month of Valentine’s Day. February is a dark, cold month so what could be better for us than embracing special festivals like Valentine’s?

Plenty of people talk about how important it is to show appreciation for one’s partner, but in the hurly burly of the hum drum it’s too easy to just coast along and take everything for granted.

Well, in February you have the chance to show that special person in your life just how much they mean to you by really making an occasion of it. It could be something simple like a breakfast in bed or something altogether far more unique and memorable…..

Knowing that Valentine’s is such a special day in the calendar, at Peckforton Castle we’ve decided to host an entire Valentine’s weekend! We’ll be welcoming lots of couples on each of the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights of Valentine’s weekend and we’ve got something very special in store for them.

It goes without saying that Peckforton Castle has got to be one of the most romantic locations in the country. Couple the fantastic venue with a special Valentine’s dinner menu in our award winning 1851 Restaurant and a stay in one of our sumptuous rooms and you’re onto something truly special.

The other very special point is the price! You can have a 3-course candlelit dinner with your partner, plus a gift, for just £40pp and Head Chef Steve Ramsden has lined up a stunning menu (see below). If you want to stay over you can take a package of £160 per couple to include dinner, bed and breakfast on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th February, or £180 per couple on Sunday 14th February. It would certainly be one Valentine’s celebration that you’ll cherish and remember forever. We’ve already sold lots of the accommodation packages though, so those are now very limited.

So, if you’d like to give your partner the ultimate Valentine’s treat, please call us on 01829 260930. It’s proving very popular, so best to act fast!

Here’s the menu to tantalise the taste buds:
Starters
Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Soup served with Basil Crème Fraîche
Locally Smoked Salmon served with Buttered Confit Salmon Supreme Smoked Tomato and Tarragon Cake
Char Grilled Asparagus served with a Crottin of Melting Goats Cheese
Assiètte of Miniature Starters (all of the above) £2.00 supplement

Main course
Pan Roasted Fillet of Beef served with Braised Ox Tail and Truffle infused Creamed Potato Smoked Bacon and Caramelized Baby Onion Jus

Extract from ‘Ode to a Haggis’

All hail your honest rounded face,
Great chieftain of the pudding race;
Above them all you take your place,
Beef, tripe, or lamb:
You’re worthy of a grace
As long as my arm.

The groaning trencher there you fill,
Your sides are like a distant hill
Your pin would help to mend a mill,
In time of need,
While through your pores the dews distil,
Like amber bead.

His knife the rustic goodman wipes,
To cut you through with all his might,
Revealing your gushing entrails bright,
Like any ditch;
And then, what a glorious sight,
Warm, welcome, rich.

Extend your evening with our burns supper, bed and breakfast package of just £160.00 per couple
