Peckforton Castle is not only famous for being the only Grade 1 listed Medieval Style Castle in the United Kingdom but is also home to the 1851 restaurant with an enviable reputation for quality food and fine wines.
The 1851 restaurant lies in what was once the private quarters of Lord Tollemarche who built the castle, and it is named after the year the building was completed.
The restaurant was awarded 2 AA Rosettes in 2009.
The ‘mystery diner’ inspectors only give these awards to the best local restaurants, which demonstrate high standards and consistency of service, who cook with precision and pay obvious attention to the quality and selection of ingredients.
Peckforton Castle’s head chef Stephen Ramsden is classically trained and prides himself on his use of local products.
